The Immaculate Conception storm is approaching Sardinia and the Civil Protection has issued a weather alert: heavy rains are expected, a north-westerly wind with gale force intensity and a violent storm surge on exposed coasts.

The bulletin issued by the decentralized functional center in via Biasi states that "the European synoptic situation is characterized by the presence of a deep cyclonic system with closed lows, both on the ground and at altitude, located over the North Sea. Starting from the next few hours", the document continues, "the cyclonic system will move towards the south-east reaching central-northern Italy between today (7 December) and tomorrow (8), favoring the influx of cold air of polar origin over the central-western Mediterranean".

Consequently, from late tonight until tomorrow , "Sardinia will be affected by strong winds from the west north-west, with reinforcements up to storm force on the western and northern coastal strips and on the major reliefs". The phenomenon "will be accompanied by storm surges on the exposed coasts. During the same period, locally high rainfall is also expected, in particular in northern and central western Sardinia. The rainfall will be mainly in the form of showers during the night and mainly stratiform during the day".

The alert for hydrogeological risk is yellow and is valid for the whole island except for Baronia, Ogliastra and Sarrabus. Furthermore, precipitation will be snow in the central areas, on the reliefs, and flakes could reach relatively low altitudes, around 800 meters.
