The body of JB, the 39-year-old Irish hiker who had been missing since September 6, was found lifeless in a remote area. His tracks had been lost while he was walking along the Santa Barbara mining trail between Masua and Cala Domestica.
The identification was made possible by the nose of one of the dogs of the firefighters' canine unit, who had been coordinating the search operations for days, also carried out with drones and a helicopter. The body was on the side of the Canale di Sa Rocca Niedda.
The recovery operations were carried out with the Alpine Rescue Helicopter Technician on board the helicopter.
The body was transported to a square in the Masua hamlet, where it was handed over to the Carabinieri of the Iglesias Company for the necessary checks.
The helicopter rescue also subsequently took care of recovering the three firefighters from the site of the discovery.
