The entire Marrubiese community gathered together this morning with affection during the celebrations for the 100th birthday of fellow citizen Aunt Maria Cau, a widow, mother of three daughters, with 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

At the end of the thanksgiving mass, Mayor Luca Corrias gave a plaque to the birthday girl. In his greeting, Corrias himself wanted to highlight some important characteristics of Mrs. Maria's life that everyone should look at.

"Strength, character and empathy - the mayor underlined - all aspects implemented towards family members but also towards ordinary people. This strength allowed her to overcome the most arduous trials of her existence. Tzia Maria - concluded Mayor Corrias - is an example for all of us".

And as a good omen, Mrs. Cau was asked to deliver the flag to the 1975 recruit who will be in charge of the celebrations of the Madonna di Zuradili.
