Marine inspections for the Tyrrhenian link: a “fleet” arrives in Terra Mala

The fleet of vessels that until December 31, in the waters off the coast of Quartu, will be engaged in environmental monitoring activities and marine surveys of a geophysical and geotechnical nature for the construction of the Tyrrhenian link, the large submarine electrical cable that Terna plans to connect Sardinia with Sicily, for the export - above all - of the energy produced by this part of the Tyrrhenian Sea, is growing. The vessels that will cross in front of Terra Mala (and not only) will be seven: four more than those planned in recent months.

The first order from the Coast Guard dates back to March 13. Based on the request of the company Prisma Srl, in charge of the works, the activities of the Giulio, the Elettra and the Smargiassa were authorized. The provision stated that "in the body of water in which the divers operate, it is forbidden to: navigate, anchor and stop with any unit, whether for pleasure or professional use. But also to carry out scuba diving activities, fishing and no maritime activity was authorized. In essence: total prohibition in the area of operations.

In the last few days, a further request has arrived from the same Srl, which adds four more vehicles to the fleet. They are Euribia, MammaIlona, Poppidù and Jerry.

In front of Terra Mala, therefore, the activity will be in full swing in the middle of summer: the Tyrrhenian link, despite the objections of the Municipality of Selargius for the damage to the roads caused by the passage of heavy vehicles, it seems cannot wait. And it is accelerating.
