Marco Raduano, the former mafia boss of Vieste (a municipality in the province of Foggia) who has been a collaborator of justice since March 2024 , and his former right-hand man Gianluigi Troiano, arrested on January 31, 2024 in Granada, Spain and who has also become a “pentito”, are going to immediate trial. With them, six other citizens of Vieste accused, in various capacities, of having aided the fugitive status of the former boss Raduano, who escaped from the maximum security prison Badu 'e Carros in Nuoro on February 24, 2023, by lowering himself from the perimeter wall.

The former boss was captured almost a year later, on February 1, 2024, in Corsica while he was going to dinner at a restaurant. The decision for the immediate trial was made by the preliminary investigations judge of the Bari court, Gabriella Pede, who accepted the request of the DDA. It will take place in Foggia: the first hearing is scheduled for April 10. After the arrest of Troiano and Raduano, who became collaborators of justice, the investigators reconstructed the drug trafficking and the aiding and abetting of Raduano's fugitive status.

The two collaborators of justice, Raduano and Troiano, are accused of transactional drug trafficking and in the same proceeding Raduano and two other suspects are accused of having set fire, in October 2023 in Vieste, to the car of the mother of a collaborator of justice. According to the prosecution, the other six suspects would have provided and guaranteed Raduano logistical support and cover , hospitality also through third parties, telephones also encrypted, cars, money and information useful to evade possible controls.

Before April 10, the defendants could request a summary trial . The injured parties are the Ministry of Justice, the Municipality of Vieste, the Ministry of Health and the victim of the arson attack.
