The fire that had kept the citizens of Maracalagonis in suspense for three hours was put out (also thanks to a local farmer who created a firebreak with his bulldozer) .

The fire broke out around 10am in the countryside of the town, in the Riu Loi area: two helicopters operated from Villasalto and Pula with several launches, the water was taken from the nearby lake and also for this reason the fire was put out in a relatively short time.

«I was informed at 1pm by the Civil Protection Room that the fire has been put out and several Masise teams and two helicopters and the Barracellare company of Maracalagonis are intervening », explains the mayor Francesca Fadda.

There is alarm in Iglesias for a fire that broke out in the Genn'e Maiori area . The Forestry Corps intervened with a Super Puma, a Canadair also in flight from the Olbia base .

"The situation is being constantly monitored to prevent the flames from jumping the provincial road and reaching the town centre ," explains Mayor Mauro Usai.
