Almost ninety days have passed since her son's murder , all marked by unspeakable agony and the constant search for the truth . Simona Campus , the mother of Marco Mameli , the 22-year-old killed on March 1st in Bari Sardo , has launched several appeals, but this time she is addressing mothers like her directly to ask for a concrete act against the code of silence . "I am not asking for pity, but only to help me know the truth. I ask you to identify with my pain, to stop for a moment to think, to imagine."
On social media, mother Simona recounts her pain: "Our family is living annihilated in pain for the loss of Marco, made even more lacerating by the vile act that inflicted him on us. We live this suspended time, waiting for Justice to take its course, but we need to know the truth , for Marco, for all of us and for those who do not resign themselves to living subjected to the law of gratuitous and unpunished violence. Many were there that evening, many saw, many know. Yet they remain silent."
" I don't want revenge, I only ask for justice and truth. Your children were there. They saw. They know. But they are silent . Why? And you mothers, do you also pretend nothing is happening?" Simona Campus' appeal invites a sense of responsibility. " Ask yourselves what it feels like to go and visit your child at the cemetery, to no longer be able to hold him in your arms, to feel him only with your heart . Mothers, you who are lucky enough to be able to hug your children again, you cannot remain indifferent even in the face of the most serious of injustices. Rediscover your dignity, your conscience: accompany your children to make a responsible gesture in respect of life, their own and that of others."
