"Maximum collaboration with all other institutions, with the police forces but also dialogue with businesses, citizens and associations". This is the recipe of the new prefect of Cagliari, Giuseppe Castaldo, who arrived a week ago in the office in Piazza Palazzo.

He has already met with the mayor of Cagliari, the prosecutor as well as the police commissioner and the provincial commanders of the Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza . And he is ready to tackle the various critical issues of the territory: «I have had indications on what the problems are. I can guarantee that I will put in the maximum effort. And I will try to get to know all the realities of this beautiful land, talking and listening to everyone». Among the difficulties to combat are «the bad nightlife, crimes committed by minors and robberies» .

In addition to intervening on public order to ensure greater security, on some problems the new prefect highlights that "synergy with all institutions is needed because force or repression alone is not enough to resolve critical issues such as disruptive nightlife and youth distress. It is therefore necessary to activate social and educational plans. We will all work on it together ".

Castaldi thanked everyone for the warm welcome: "I am ready to face this new adventure". The new prefect, 63 years old and originally from Naples, comes from the prefecture of Caserta. Before Caserta he had been prefect of Pisa and Syracuse (issuing numerous anti-mafia interdictions and the proposal to dissolve municipal administrations). In his past also the roles of extraordinary commissioner in the Municipalities, dissolved due to infiltration of organized crime , of Lusciano (from October 2007 to October 2009), of Condofuri (from October 2010 to October 2012) and of Reggio Calabria from October 2012 to October 2014.
