The first waste arrived today and on Monday the technical testing and commissioning operations of the new Tossilo waste-to-energy plant will begin. We are starting again with all the paperwork in order: "Operations are underway," says the president of Tossilo Spa, Mario Zacchino. "We have worked intensely to create the necessary safety conditions and the parameters required by law."

Giuseppe Ciccolini, extraordinary administrator of the Province, adds: «The procedure has been completed, giving the green light to start the procedure for testing the plants in safety. For this I thank the technical structure, of the environment sector, which has done an excellent job. Obviously we will continue to work with the monitoring activity, so that everything proceeds for the best , in the safety of the citizens and of those who work in those plants».

The mayor of Macomer, Riccardo Uda, sees the start of the waste-to-energy plant with the concrete relaunch of the Tossilo industrial area : «We need to work in perspective from an industrial point of view, therefore finding solutions to link the industrial consortium of Macomer with that of Oristano». Franco Scanu, president of the Union of Municipalities of Marghine, shares the same opinion: «The requests of the Province have been responded to in a timely manner. However, it is right that we always proceed within the parameters prescribed by the legislation, therefore with maximum safety for those who work there for the protection of the territory».

The issue will be at the centre of an initiative by the Nino Carrus association, which will be held in Macomer on 23 May, to create a certain future for the industrial area of Tossilo , with the extraordinary participation of the President of the Region, Alessandra Todde.
