A crowd of colleagues, friends, and, above all, patients he had cared for over nearly half a century of professional service. At 2:30 pm today, they all gathered in the churchyard of San Pietro to receive the coffin of Natalino Meloni, the doctor from Loceri who passed away last Friday at the age of 76, after a very short illness.
The funeral ceremony, officiated by the parish priest, Father Ernest Beroby, was also attended by several mayors and local administrators wearing the Italian flag, with the Province of Ogliastra represented by Vice President Carlo Lai. All were united in the grief of Meloni's children and family. Meloni had been Loceri's family doctor for forty years, head of the USCA (Health and Safety Agency) during the pandemic, and still worked as an occupational physician.
Founder and president of the Mano Tesa Ogliastra volunteer association, until a few days ago he was busy organizing the Christmas concert. A sneaky illness took his life.
