It is probably the most emblematic of the situations in which public lighting finds itself.

It is the suggestive luminous writing (about thirty meters long with letters of 2 meters) that the Lai Administration had installed in Punta Chiara, in Piazza Comando, at the beginning of the year, on the occasion of the candidacy, then not obtained, of La Maddalena to "Italian Capital of Culture 2024" .

Once the beautiful aspiration vanished, the date "2024" (year of candidacy) was soon removed, leaving the rest, as a sign of welcome, especially for those arriving on the island by ferry .

A few months later some letters, as can be seen in the photo, are switched off just as many street lamps are switched off in various streets and squares of the city, both in the center and in the suburbs .

The state of the public power lines "is disastrous", admitted the delegate Luca Falchi. Moreover, the cost of the bill for the Municipality has almost tripled in recent years and so, as per the electoral programme, the Lai Administration is decisively betting on project financing . The subject will be brought to the City Council on 29 November by the same delegate Luca Falchi.

«On that occasion we will elect the promoter from among those who, following expressions of interest, have presented their proposals» i.e. a technical-economic feasibility project . The managing entity "will provide, for 15 years, to carry out important energy efficiency interventions which will have to allow a significant reduction in electricity consumption while improving the lighting of streets and squares at the same time". At present there are lighting fixtures that are even 18 years old; it is about 3500 light points with 41 paintings.
