The woman is fine. And so is the baby she gave birth to following an emergency operation, performed because of a major hemorrhage.
The story with a happy ending began yesterday afternoon in Lanusei: the pregnant woman showed up at the emergency room of the Nostra Signora della Mercede hospital in serious conditions, with significant blood loss. She could not be moved.
There is no birthing point there. So, as the ASL of Ogliastra explains, "she was immediately taken to the operating room, where a caesarean section was performed by the team from the Gynecology and Obstetrics department. In this phase - the note continues - the baby was assisted and stabilized by the hospital's anesthesiology team. The newborn was then transferred by helicopter to the Policlinico of
Monserrato in the Tin (Neonatal Intensive Care), where he arrived
in good condition."
The mother, concludes the Company's note, «is currently
admitted to the Obstetrics and Gynecology department of Nostra Signora
of Mercede di Lanusei. It is in good condition and will reach the child
as soon as possible."
