“We are entering the most critical period of the year when demand increases and donations decrease.” Avis of La Maddalena reminds us of this, referring to the fact that with the increase in population, on the island and in Gallura, as a consequence of the tourist season, the need for blood availability increases while there is a tendency towards a decrease in donations , which should instead increase, precisely to meet the needs.
The Avis section of La Maddalena is fresh from the very recent organization of the last presence of the blood bank of the Olbia Transfusion Center, on the occasion of which "31 bags of red gold" were collected, always precious but even more so in the summer period. And today, June 14, we celebrate World Blood Donor Day. An anniversary that began twenty years ago, in 2004, proclaimed by the World Health Organization to underline the importance of donations and to express gratitude to blood, plasma and platelet donors.

Returning to the Avis island, in the last week of lessons, the students of the third classes of the "Emanuela Loi" secondary school in La Maddalena encountered the Avis world. Supported by the health directors of the local section, doctors Michele Demontis and Sbernardori, the importance and beauty of the gesture of donating blood was illustrated to girls and boys. «The young generations participated with enthusiasm, demonstrating an extraordinary sensitivity towards the proposed themes and the desire to involve families».
