We investigate the past of Matteo Murgia, the 40-year-old shepherd killed with a shotgun loaded with buckshot in the Gesturi countryside, in a sheepfold a few meters from the Statale 197 and not far from the town.
According to an initial examination by the coroner, there were two shots in the chest that killed him.
A full-scale ambush investigated by the carabinieri, who in addition to trying to light a lighthouse on his past are working to reconstruct the last hours of the 40-year-old's life.
The body was discovered this morning around 8 by his brother, who had gone to look for him because Matteo Murgia had not returned home. It was right at the entrance to the farm where the victim went to look after the animals every day.
The carabinieri of the Compagnia di Sanluri and the investigative unit immediately arrived on the spot and started the investigations. The public prosecutor of Cagliari, Ginevra Grilletti, and the coroner Roberto Demontis also arrived.
Married and father of two children, after the separation Murgia lived at his parents' house and occasionally worked in Cagliari for a construction company. But he mainly took care of his horses, kept in a stable, annexed to the sheepfold, which he had rented from the Municipality.
