The confidentiality of the investigators is maximum, but the investigation into the murder of Nico Piras, the forty-two-year-old from Lula who died yesterday afternoon in Nuoro hospital, seems close to a turning point: 36 hours earlier he had been hit in the abdomen by at least one shot gun exploded at the end of the Cortes Apertas party in the center of Barbagia.

Piras had undergone emergency surgery but the operation did not save his life. The autopsy on the victim's body has been scheduled for next Friday at the municipal cemetery of Nuoro : the examination has been entrusted to the medical examiner Matteo Nioi.

The investigations by Lula's carabinieri and Bitti's company, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor of Nuoro Ireno Satta, promise developments in the next few hours. The appeal would be missing a person who would have remained untraceable after the fact.

It delves into the victim's past, into the conflicting relationships within the family of origin, to which a series of facts of which Nico Piras had become the protagonist were linked. He was currently on trial for the murder of his brother Angelo Maria, killed on 25 January 2015 in the countryside of the town. It is the second appeal trial, after the Court of Cassation had annulled with postponement the one that had taken place before the Assize Court of Appeal of Sassari, and ended with the sentencing of Piras and his ex-wife Alice Flore to 24 years of prison. At first instance, in Nuoro, the couple was acquitted for not having committed the crime.

On Monday morning, the first to be interviewed by the investigators were the family members of the murdered brother, but also friends and people close to Nico Piras. We are sifting through the last hours of the life of the worker who left Lula a few years ago to move to Gallura, where he had rebuilt his life and found work as a maintenance worker. He returned to the village more and more rarely. It is not excluded that on Sunday he took advantage of the Autumn in Barbagia event, with the courts open to visitors, to return home. It remains to be seen whether his presence in Lula annoyed anyone.

On Sunday afternoon there would have been a rough encounter with a family member. Then at 4 in the morning on Monday, Piras was apparently approached by someone near the court in Via dei Mille and that's where the gunshots were fired at him.
