The morning after the huge win in the Italian Lottery, the hustle and bustle was a little busier. A few hours earlier, at Giuliano Piras's café, a few steps from the old town hall in Jerzu , the news arrived: someone had won 1.5 million euros .

A record win achieved with a ticket paid for 5 euros.

"There's a lot of curiosity," says Pier Giulio Piras, known to everyone as Giuliano. "Lots of people come over for a coffee, to congratulate each other, and to take a look. There have been other scratch-off wins in the past, but they were limited to very small amounts, certainly not the million-dollar sums this time."

Glasses raised in the homeland of Cannonau. Many toasts were made, flashes of news, and immediately the search began, and the uncertain identity of the lottery winner was established: "99 percent of the time, he's from Jerzu. That tiny percentage of uncertainty," Piras adds, "is linked to someone who comes to town, perhaps for a visit to the clinic. In any case, I wish the lucky winner happiness and good health."
