Isili, emergency room closed on August 15th and until the 19th. The mayor's anger: "Healthcare cannot function intermittently"

The communication comes from the ASL: « The Emergency Room of the San Giuseppe hospital in Isili will be closed on 13, 15, 17, 18 and 19 August 2024 ». The reason? The « now known critical issues of the structure in question ». Translated: there are no doctors .
Then, again in the same note, the ASL informs that "on August 15, 17 and 18, less serious patients will be able to refer to the continuity of care service present in the hospital facility, while patients in serious conditions will be directed to other hospital facilities, in order to guarantee the continuity of the emergency-urgency service in the area". In other words, some hope, for those who may need it, of not having to travel dozens of kilometers to be able to be visited, but no certainty .
And the one who is furious about the matter is the mayor of Isili, Luca Pilia , who specifies: « This situation is intolerable. An emergency room of a hospital in a disadvantaged area cannot operate intermittently . Healthcare is a fundamental service that must be guaranteed all year round, twenty-four hours a day: there cannot be holidays or celebrations that determine its suspension ». «We want the service to be restored as soon as possible», he concludes.
