Irrigation networks closed: from Posada to Torpè, from Siniscola to Budoni only tankers for agricultural companies

Only tankers on farms . One of the most difficult summers in Sardinia in terms of water supply is about to begin.

The Central Sardinia Reclamation Consortium is forced to close, from today, the irrigation networks of the Posada District . We start from the countryside of Posada and, in the next few days, we will move forward to the countryside of Torpé, Siniscola, Budoni and San Teodoro .

«We knew it would come to this. The absence of rain, the little water in the basin, a drought which was recorded above all in the western sector of Sardinia and which particularly affected the Maccheronis reservoir, will make this summer one of the worst the area has ever recorded ", explains the president of the Consortium Ambrogio Guiso .

Only civil uses are guaranteed , the pipelines that feed the municipal water purification plants remain in operation. But if the emergency continues, home taps could also be subject to restrictions.

As of today, agricultural and livestock breeding companies can only supply raw water (non-drinkable) via tankers made available by the Central Sardinia Reclamation Consortium.

«We are preparing for a difficult summer, which will mark the downturn for the economy of this area. Already from today 6 June there will be a first tanker available to consortium members in the Posada area. And there will be more starting tomorrow. However, we need to take immediate action to give companies answers to a situation that has already reached high levels of tension", concludes Ambrogio Guiso.

In total , 14 delivery points will be activated where companies will be able to collect water . Here they are.
