For a few weeks, Baillu Frongia, a worker from Desulo , has been gone: he died prematurely at the age of 65 due to a bad illness. But for his faithful four-legged friend, love has never faded.

Like Argo in the Odyssey with Ulysses and Hachiko in the Japanese station of Shibuya, Snoopy, an 8-year-old German shepherd, also continues to wait in vain for his beloved master to arrive at the doorstep. In the historic district of "Frumene".

Moving images, those told in the past few hours on Facebook by the neighbor, Alberto Zilaghe. And they went viral in no time. The entire neighborhood in via Nuoro wasted no time: the dog was adopted and everyone is taking care of it.

To tell Basilia Puddu: «This is not a neighborhood, but a real family. Baillu was a brother to us. Snoopy grew up among our children, who he deeply adores. We are a safe haven for him."

And in fact we are already thinking about the months to come: «It will find a comfortable place in our garage», continues Puddu, «so as to find refuge from the long winter days. Already now, we are committed to ensuring that nothing is missing. We are doing our best."

I continue the comings and goings in the paving of via Nuoro, for what has by now become the local "mascot". Small, large gestures of a community, found united and, without hesitation, ready to make a common front.

«For us Desulesi», says the mayor Gian Cristian Melis, «welcome and respect are essential. There is no sheepfold that lacks a dog that is always well looked after by the breeders. Ditto in families, as in the one where Snoopy has always been an important element. Animals are sacred and we treat them with great affection. I'm proud of our community and what we're doing."
