These are the contents of the letter that Igor Sollai, the 43-year-old in prison accused of killing his wife Francesca Deidda, sent to his brother-in-law Andrea Deidda .
The text of the letter was released by Sollai's lawyers, Carlo Demurtas and Laura Pirarba, at the express request of the 43-year-old.
"Hi Andrea, I'm writing to you because I feel the need to talk to you and tell you some things that probably wouldn't find space, time, or peace in a conversation. Before my arrest - writes the alleged femicide - we had the opportunity to chat and discuss things but never meet. This letter gives me the opportunity to clarify the relationship between me and Francesca."
THE CRISIS
"You should know that we had been in a moment of crisis for a year and a half and the possible third person that has been mentioned several times has nothing to do with it, in fact there has never been any lover or hidden relationship. In reality, we had both understood for a long time that in the long run something had broken between us, while still remaining a strong emotional bond but no longer of love. This obviously had distanced us, taking with it new friendships. When I heard about the discovery of Francesca's body, believe me, we felt the same feeling of despair, loss and suffering, I think a lifetime will not be enough to recover".
"I KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF ME"
"It's no use pretending nothing is happening, I follow the TV between news and talk shows, I know what you think about me, I certainly respect it but obviously I can't share it. I'm convinced that in the next few months many things will be clarified, things that today seem difficult to understand. Once everything is over, I would like to meet you and resume that beautiful relationship that we had but that unfortunately had ended by your choice by excluding me and Francesca from your life completely for 8-10 years ."
