Giancarlo Siddi didn't make it . That was the name of the 74-year-old man who was hit by a tree in the countryside of Iglesias just after midday yesterday . A life dedicated to work that ended in the most tragic way.
The tragedy occurred in the fields in front of via Adige, in the locality of Nuraponti, where the farmer has always lived and worked. On board his tractor, he was trying to uproot a tall eucalyptus, when the tree fell on him, overwhelming him and fatally injuring him .
The rescue was immediate, alerted by some people who were on site, where an ambulance and an Areus helicopter arrived which, after the first aid, urgently transferred him to Brotzu.
Attempts to save his life were in vain, and there was great mourning in the village among the many who knew him.
