Almost six thousand signatures were collected in Sardinia in support of the petition “Against the distortion of the Home Care Premium”, launched by unions and associations as a protest against the cuts to home care by INPS. A mobilization promoted by Cgil, Spi, Filcams and Fp of Sardinia together with the regional cooperative associations Agci Imprese sociali, Confcooperative Federsolidarietà and Legacoopsociali.

The appeal is clear: to modify the 2025-2028 call for proposals for the Home Care Premium Project which, in its current version, deprives eight thousand people on the island and over 35 thousand throughout Italy of essential services such as home care provided by social and health workers, relief services for caregivers, access to extra-home facilities and assisted transport services.

In addition to this, if confirmed, the cuts will produce hundreds of layoffs in Sardinia, the heavy reduction of working hours of qualified personnel who have been involved in care and assistance services for years.

"We have not found a single reason that is understandable, reasonable and shareable," the petition reads in reference to the cuts, "while we are able to demonstrate the inequity, the absurdity, the lack of adherence to the needs of the people that characterize the new call."

Among the promoters of the initiative, there is widespread concern for the future of vulnerable people and their families, pensioners and all the staff involved in home care activities.

The mobilization that today, with the petition, marks a further stage is also accompanied by actions of urging for a modification of the INPS announcement by the ANCI and the Region as well as by Cgil Cisl and Uil at the national level. "A broad front that cannot fail to shake the national leaders of the Institute", conclude unions and associations, trusting that a substantial revision of the announcement will be achieved.
