Intervention yesterday evening by technicians from the Alpine and Speleological Rescue of Sardinia to save two hikers in difficulty in Cala Goloritzè , in the municipality of Baunei .
The alarm was raised at 7:30 pm by the Fire Brigade when the two, originally from Lombardy, after a rope descent to reach a via ferrata found themselves in difficulty continuing on that stretch of the cliff.
Immediate rescue operations with a team of 4 technicians who, embarked from the port of Santa Maria Navarrese on a dinghy provided by a private company from Arbatax, were able to quickly reach the base of the cliff where the hikers were by sea. In the meantime, a team from the Guardia di Finanza Alpine Rescue and a team from the Tortolì Fire Department positioned themselves on the upper part of the slope, ready to intervene if sea conditions prevented the Alpine Rescue technicians from safely disembarking at the base of the cliff.
Fortunately, after locating them, the Alpine Rescue technicians on the dinghy rescued the two hikers by lowering them using ropes to sea level, then taking them on board and returning to the port of Arbatax.
The recovery operations were concluded shortly after 1am, when the two were accompanied to their car.
