Intervention to rescue an injured German tourist on the “Budinetto” cliff in Cala Gonone.
A thick blanket of fog made it difficult for the 118 helicopter , stationed in Olbia with a Helicopter Rescue Technician from the Alpine and Speleological Rescue Service on board, forcing it to approach by sea. Four Alpine Rescue Technicians from the Guardia di Finanza of Nuoro, activated by the Alpine and Speleological Rescue Service of Sardinia, quickly intervened to provide support to the Helicopter Rescue Technician and the medical personnel present on site.
Once they reached the injured person at the base of the cliff , the rescue workers positioned him on the vacuum mattress , located inside the stretcher, and transported him on their shoulders to the 118 ambulance waiting in a parking area downstream.
The ambulance then took him to the landing area where the helicopter was waiting for his subsequent transfer to the hospital.
