He had chosen to spend the day before New Year's Eve enjoying outdoor sports. But today, a 41-year-old Frenchman ended up at the San Francesco Hospital in Nuoro after suffering a craniofacial trauma.

The accident occurred around noon at Cala Fuili, while climbing. For reasons yet to be determined, the climber fell from a height of five meters. His companions alerted 118, and the Sassari operations center dispatched Echo Lima 1, the Areus helicopter, to the scene, having taken off from its Olbia base.

The injured man was recovered using a winch after landing on the beach and the rescue team left the scene .

During the rescue operations, the man remained alert and conscious throughout, although the emergency department assigned a red code to the incident due to the circumstances of the accident. In the emergency room, the hiker underwent instrumental tests, which revealed a reassuring neurological status.
