Two people were injured, one seriously, two cars were destroyed, and traffic was disrupted. This is the toll from the accident that occurred around 3:30 PM today on Provincial Road 27, between Tortolì and Villagrande.

For reasons currently under investigation, a Mercedes A-Class collided head-on with a Fiat Panda traveling southbound. The driver of the Panda, a young teacher from Catania, sustained the most serious injuries and was transported by Areus helicopter to Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari. He suffered abdominal trauma and various bruises. The Sassari 118 operations center issued a red code for the incident.

The Mercedes was driven by a waiter from Villagrande, who was also injured, but less seriously. He was taken by ambulance to Nostra Signora della Mercede Hospital in Lanusei. Both remained alert and conscious throughout the rescue operation. Carabinieri from the Lanusei mobile radio unit and firefighters from Tortolì were on the scene.
