A 56-year-old from Iglesias , late yesterday evening, was arrested by the carabinieri for attempted theft, resistance, violence and threats to public officials and aggravated personal injuries.

The man, after being caught in the act of forcing the entrance door of the residence of an elderly lady in order to commit a theft, fled and took refuge in his own home.

Reached by the carabinieri and invited several times to leave the building, he suddenly opened the door brandishing a machete at the military address.

After a brief struggle, during which a carabiniere remedied a minor injury to his hand , the 56-year-old was blocked.

The man on the orders of the prosecutor on duty was then taken to the security chambers of the weapon. Today the judgment by direct court in Cagliari.
