Late on Saturday morning, the Flying Squad officers, after receiving a call for help, intervened in Pirri following a robbery of an elderly woman by a 36-year-old man, already known to the police.

The woman said that shortly before, after leaving a tobacconist's on Via Toti, she was approached by a man who, after blocking her arms, snatched the wallet from her hands and ran away. Shortly before the police arrived, a passerby recovered the object abandoned on the street by the man to return it to the elderly woman, who immediately noticed the lack of 200 euros.

After viewing the images from the tobacconist's video surveillance system, the alleged perpetrator of the theft was reached near his home.

The thirty-six-year-old was arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery and, following investigations, was taken to Uta prison.
