Fatal accident last night along the provincial road 18, in the Sassari district of Bancali.
The victim is a 72-year-old retiree, Efisio Carboni.
According to the first reports, the man was returning home after a dinner with friends, when perhaps due to an illness or a stroke of sleep he lost control of his Opel Agila and crashed into a pole at the edge of the roadway.
Some residents heard the noise and asked for the intervention of 118. The fire brigade and the traffic police also arrived on the spot.
Rescuers were unable to save the life of the pensioner, who died shortly after their arrival.
