The alarm was triggered when a woman living in Trieste called 113 to report that, for days, she had not been able to get in touch with an elderly cousin, suffering from various pathologies, who lives in Sassari: that phone always rang at empty.

The agents of the city police station went to the man's house and faint moans came from inside the house. They tried to reassure him, to keep him alert, and he managed to explain that he had been lying on the ground for several days, had fallen and due to a trauma to his leg he was no longer able to get up. The policemen asked for the intervention of the firefighters and health personnel who entered the house through a window.

The 76-year-old was very stressed by the long stay on the floor, without eating, without drinking and without being able to take his drugs.

The ambulance accompanied him to the hospital.
