He burned his neighbor alive in Olbia, dousing him with gasoline and setting him on fire. For Davide Iannelli , on trial before the Assize Court of Sassari for the murder of 49-year-old Toni Cozzolino, the prosecutor has requested a life sentence .

Before the Court presided over by Judge Massimo Zaniboni, the Tempio prosecutor Gregorio Capasso and the deputy Claudia Manconi concluded their closing speech this morning by asking for the maximum sentence for the defendant. "Murder aggravated by cruelty, there are no mitigating circumstances. For this reason I ask for a life sentence with all the related legal consequences", said the prosecutor, specifying that however the premeditation has fallen away.

The facts date back to March 11, 2022. The victim died in the hospital in Olbia due to the serious burns suffered. Iannelli, subjected to a psychiatric evaluation , was found to be capable of understanding and willing. The consultancy, ordered for the murder of via Petta, had therefore not changed the position of the accused.
