Among the plastic waste there were explosive "bits" used for poaching wild boars. One exploded during spill operations. The driver of the truck that transported them, a forty-three year old from Guspini, paid the costs: the bang was extremely violent, but fortunately he only suffered injuries to one eye and one ear.

The accident, which is being investigated by the Sanluri carabinieri, with the support of Radiomobile and colleagues from the Samassi station, occurred this morning in a waste disposal center in Medio Campidano. The operation of transferring approximately one ton of plastic material was in progress from the container.

The explosion came suddenly. The transporter, after an initial moment of stupor, probably underestimating the consequences of the shock wave due to the adrenaline that must have followed the blow, decided to start driving the truck to go to the hospital independently, but in a short time Over time the pain became such that he had to stop and alerted 112.

The investigations carried out with the support of the bomb squad of the provincial command of Cagliari made it possible to reconstruct that the explosion was caused by a homemade explosive device, generally used for poaching wild boars and thrown into normal waste. At the site of the accident, the bomb squad found, in addition to traces of the explosion and an "ovoid casing" torn by a few centimeters, also two other intact "explosive morsels" still scattered among the waste: they were found to be particularly insidious because they were built to be triggered by pressure alone, as must have happened accidentally during the operations the injured man was carrying out.

The man was transported to the Monserrato Polyclinic, where he is awaiting a non-life-threatening report.
