"We are happy with the announcement regarding the support of the Army by the Prefect of Nuoro": these are the words of the councilors of Agriculture, Valeria Satta, and of Defense of the Environment, Marco Porcu, pronounced at the end of the meeting convened to understand who, how and when will take the field to try to prevent, in advance, the invasion of locusts that devastates central Sardinia every year.

All the bodies involved participated: there were representatives of the Forestas and Laore agencies, of the Civil Protection, of the Province of Nuoro and the mayors of Bolotana, Sedilo, Bultei and Dualchi, with their barracellari companions.

On balance, 185 men from the Region will be operational. They will be joined by civil protection men and Army teams.

Tomorrow commissioner Satta will meet the prefect Giancarlo Dionisi in Nuoro who has made known his willingness to support the operations.

«Today's meeting was instrumental in defining the resources effectively in the field», said the Councilor for Agriculture, «there is no more time to lose».

«It is important», added my colleague Porcu, «that the teams put in place by the Region are perfectly coordinated».
