Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti took part, in the utmost secrecy, in the second edition of the “Financial Legality Day” held at the Civic Theatre in Alghero.
The initiative, promoted by the Financial Education Committee in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Education and Merit, and the Guardia di Finanza, featured students from three higher education institutions selected by the Edufin Committee for their outstanding financial education initiatives.
Students from the "E. Fermi" Institute in Alghero (two fifth-year classes from the Classics and Linguistics departments) were awarded for a project aimed at fostering intergenerational dialogue at the "Università delle Tre Età" (University of the Third Age). Among the award-winning projects were those from the "Cine-TV Roberto Rossellini" Institute in Rome and the "Luigi Einaudi" Technical Institute in Verona, both of which were connected remotely. The event, which received the Presidential Medal, was attended by Minister of Economy and Finance Giorgetti, General Commander of the Guardia di Finanza Andrea De Gennaro, and Director of the Edufin Committee Donato Masciandaro.
Everyone was welcomed by Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto , Prefect Grazia La Fauci, and Police Commissioner Filippo Mastropasqua. "This is an important day for the education of our children," said the minister, emphasizing its profound civic and educational value. "We feel a strong duty to support our children, first and foremost by instilling in them, from an early age, a culture of legality, including financial law. For a just society, a coexistence based on mutual respect and rules," Giorgetti continued. "Therefore, school education cannot be limited, in simple terms, to teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic. We must also teach our children how to navigate the economic and financial world."
The minister referred to the "increasing digitalization of social and economic life," which now offers previously unimaginable opportunities, but also poses risks. "The only weapon to defend ourselves is digital education. Awareness, in fact. Learning to recognize the warning signs."
