Martino Corda, former socialist mayor of Nuoro from 1983 to 1985, died last night in Macomer . He was 85 years old. Corda was a guest of a retirement home in Macomer and died seven months after his wife Simonetta Murru, 81 years old, the first and only mayor of Nuoro from 1991 to 1992 , who passed away last April.

The announcement on social media from his son Ninni Corda, a soccer coach who wrote: "And after Mom you also left, my wonderful Dad, unlike Mom you left in silence but serenely, that serenity that few had wanted to take away from you but that no one had ever taken away from you in the end. Unfortunately you didn't make it to Christmas, it was your last goal that you were unable to reach to say goodbye to your grandchildren, but in life you achieved them all like becoming mayor of your beloved Nuoro. There would be millions of words to describe the person you were, not just a father to a son, your ashes will fly to the sky as your wish".
