The fire emergency continues in Sardinia, with 26 blazes throughout the region, five of which required the use of aerial resources. A rather large fire broke out this afternoon in the countryside of Nurri, near the former Galoppatoio area. Three helicopters from the operational bases of Villasalto, Sorgono, and Fenosu (Super Puma) are on site, along with three Canadair helicopters, all arriving from Olbia, and the Forestry Corps patrol from Isili are coordinating the rather complex extinguishing operations.
The fire in Nurri involved firefighters from Mandas, five Agenzia Forestas teams from the Isili, Villanovatulo, Nurallao, and Sadali construction sites, and two volunteer teams from Orroli and Isili. The flames, which originated in an uncultivated field near the sports field, spread to a large wooded area: the Nurri municipal pine forest . They have not yet been extinguished.
Flames also broke out between Furtei and Villamar, in the Baccalillus area. The fire reached just off state road 197, impacting traffic and requiring a traffic stop . The Sanluri Forestry Corps patrol coordinated the extinguishing operations on the scene, assisted by a helicopter from its base in Pula. Two teams from the Furtei and Sanluri barracelli, a Forestas team from Senorbì, and two firefighter teams from Sanluri responded.
Three helicopters, two state-owned (AW139s from the Italian Air Force and AB412s from the Army) departed from Decimomannu and Elmas respectively, plus one from the CFVA base in Pula, to battle the fire that also broke out in Furtei, in the Riu Scala area . They were joined by a Forestas agency from the Barumini shipyard, a team of volunteers from Guasila, and firefighters from Sanluri. Here, the flames were affecting a conifer reforestation area on the eastern outskirts of town. The Air Force helicopter also intervened in the countryside of Sanluri, in the San Michele area. The flames affected a conifer reforestation area, arable land, and riparian vegetation near provincial road 59.
In Nuxis, in the Punta Sugraxia area, two helicopters were deployed from the Can Cosimo and Pula bases. The fire started on a dirt road near state road 293 and is affecting a wooded area near the Bau Pressiu dam . A police patrol is managing public order and traffic, along with two Forestas teams from Nuxis-Sa Marchesa and two volunteer teams from Santadi.
