The general prosecutor of the Sassari Court of Assizes of Appeal, Roberta Pischedda, has requested life imprisonment for Francesco Baingio Douglas Fadda , the 47-year-old already sentenced to the maximum sentence for the femicide of his 41-year-old partner of Czech origin, Zdenka Krejcikova . The woman was stabbed on 15 January 2020 in a bar in Sorso and left to die in a house in Ossi. The man then fled in the middle of the night with her 11-year-old daughters.

According to the pg, «the defendant acted with conditioned premeditation, for a month he had been threatening his partner with death if she turned to the carabinieri. I ask for confirmation of the first instance sentence ». The civil party lawyers joined the request for life imprisonment: Teresa Pes, for the victim's family, and Pietro Diaz, for the woman's two underage daughters.

This morning's hearing saw the defendant, defended by the lawyer Lorenzo Galisai, connected by videoconference from the Bancali prison. Fadda wanted to make spontaneous statements: « I have not done anything the prosecution says . Zdenka was holding the knife, she slipped and injured herself as she fell. With my physical prowess I don't need a knife if I want to hurt someone».

He also disputed the testimony of the three witnesses who had witnessed the attack and asked for an expert report on the knife to demonstrate that the victim's fingerprints are on the weapon. At the beginning of the indictment, the accused got nervous, leaving the hearing room.
