Fault on high voltage lines in Northern Sardinia, thousands without electricity

A fault in the high voltage network is creating serious inconvenience for thousands of people in various areas of Northern Sardinia. These are Terna's plants that power Enel lines.

In the evening there was an interruption in the electricity supply in numerous towns in the Sassari and Gallura areas. The reports came from Castelsardo, Viddalba, Santa Maria Coghinas, Valledoria, Badesi, Aggius and other centres. Terna and Enel staff immediately got to work and have been working for hours to resolve the problem.

According to initial findings, some primary substations of Terna and Enel were damaged by lightning. Some of the utilities were reactivated before 8pm, but the most difficult situations were reported, even after the repairs, in Valledoria, Castelsardo and Viddalba. The restoration work on the lines and cabins is continuing indefinitely to reactivate the service.
