Giampiero Pinna , president of the Santa Barbara Mining Route Foundation, died.
Former regional councilor, geologist in the early 2000s, he led the occupation of the Monteponi mine which then led to the establishment of the historical and environmental geo-mining park of Sardinia.
He had been in the hospital for several days.
THE PROFILE - Geologist , born in Iglesias on 24 September 1950, Giampiero Pinna was one of the founding fathers of the historical and environmental Geo-mining Park of Sardinia. Former president of Emsa , the Sardinian mining organization, engaged in politics, he was elected regional councilor in the XII Legislature (1999/2004) among the ranks of the DS.
After the occupation of the Pozzo Sella in 2000, his political action focuses on the foundation of the Geomineral Park , which becomes his workhorse. He then became the Coordinator of the Park associations and founded the Santa Barbara Mining Trail, a historical-religious-environmental path that involves dozens of mining municipalities.
Giampiero Pinna's life was completely dedicated to Sardinian mines and to the enhancement of their history from a touristic and environmental point of view. Numerous messages of condolence on the Facebook pages dedicated to the mines of Sardinia.
