The provincial Carabinieri command has issued an appeal to priests and the elderly to exercise maximum caution and immediately report any suspicious situations to the police.

The reports came from the Terralba and Mogoro areas. The scammers call potential victims by phone, introducing themselves as priests or people close to the parish. Using various pretexts, they try to obtain money but also information about their daily habits, private life, and home address, in an attempt to locate and perhaps reach them.

The provincial Carabinieri command has urged residents to "pay close attention to calls from unknown numbers, always verifying the caller's identity before providing any information or arranging appointments."
