She had been fired from her company because she had multiple sclerosis. Now the woman is back to work.

The case was dealt with by the Equality Councilor of the Sardinia Region Maria Tiziana Putzolu. It all started at the end of last year, when the competent doctor who had examined her had declared the woman "unsuitable for the specific job".

So the company, a company based in the industrial area of Elmas that operates in the catering sector, fired her.

The case was reported to Putzolu by the lawyers of the Italian Multiple Sclerosis Association, Amarugi and Demuro, who had immediately challenged the unfair dismissal.

The adviser thus met the company, which proved to be collaborative and overcame the problem by bringing the woman back to work with a different job.

"We are all very satisfied to have reached the solution of the case in a very short time", says Putzolu, who underlines the "collaborative attitude of the company".

"The case - explains the councilor - can be framed in the case of double discrimination because people affected by multiple sclerosis in Sardinia are, unfortunately, mainly women, in the measure of 70% of the cases out of the approximately 7 thousand total subjects affected by this pathology in the Island. This is not the first case that has been reported to me, and I can tell that women with MS are under attack in the workplace throughout Italy. Having achieved this result in such a short time bodes well for other women».
