Paolo Pinna , the 42-year-old from Bosa who yesterday killed his 78-year-old father Giuseppe with a screwdriver, has been transferred from Uta prison to Oristano hospital, where he is under medical observation and guarded by the Carabinieri.
The man, represented by attorney Federica Largiu, was arrested yesterday by Carabinieri officers from the Macomer Company in the house on Via Pischedda where he had just killed his father. He suffers from mental illness and is being treated at the Oristano Local Health Authority. After his arrest, he was taken to Uta prison, but this morning he had to be transferred to the hospital . The 42-year-old is severely distressed and requires medical attention.
Meanwhile, the Oristano Prosecutor's Office has ordered an autopsy on Giuseppe Pinna's body . The autopsy will be performed tomorrow in Cagliari by coroner Roberto Demontis. The results will help investigators reconstruct the crime. According to yesterday's findings, father and son had a brief argument shortly after lunch, and Paolo Pinna, using a screwdriver, repeatedly struck his father, leaving him lifeless on the ground.
His mother heard the screams, rushed into the room, and found herself confronted by the tragedy. She called for help, but by the time the emergency medical services arrived, Giuseppe Pinna's condition was already desperate. The Areus air ambulance arrived in Bosa to transport him to the hospital in Nuoro, but the pensioner died in the arms of the paramedics without regaining consciousness.
