Drought, the cry of farmers: "The fields are thirsty, act immediately"

The farmers of Ogliastra started from the Sant'Antonio di Tertenia dairy to launch their cry of pain against the drought .

Many people, with tractors and agricultural vehicles, are marching on state road 125 .

The world of the countryside is mobilizing to make its voice heard on the difficulties that Sardinian companies are experiencing due to the continuation of the serious state of drought , the daily damage caused by wildlife and to raise awareness of the next European programming dictated by a Community policy that it has not put the farmer at the center of its policies. In fact, the "Vie del mare" mobilization of Coldiretti Sardinia begins today. A month of actions throughout the regional territory with, at the centre, the burning issues for agriculture and livestock.

«We are opening a moment of great mobilization which will lead to important events in sensitive places in Sardinia with the aim of shining the spotlight of public opinion on the difficulties that our farmers and breeders experience every day on issues that are so important for the world of the countryside - they underline Battista Cualbu and Luca Saba , president and director of Coldiretti Sardinia - Sardinia, as already on the national side, is carrying out an action to try to build a better future for local communities, especially in terms of water infrastructures that could alleviate the great thirst that the camps are experiencing and to support citizens and companies in their daily lives and activities".

Two events are scheduled today with two tractor parades, from North to South, in particular between Sarrabus, Southern Sardinia, Ogliastra, Baronia and Gallura. The first parades along the Strada Statale 125 with three starting points: two from the South (starting of the Strada Statale 125 Var north side, Murtas junction - 54,600 km and starting at the Castiadas Olia Speciosa junction - 29,400 km) and one from the North (Tertenia industrial area – Località San Pietro - Nu). The arrival point of the two processions is located at the San Giorgio Quirra-Villaputzu junction on state road 125 Var. The second demonstration (simultaneously) parades along State Road 131 Dcn with two starting points (Olbia – Ovilò exit – San Teodoro and in Siniscola - Industrial area). The arrival point of the two processions is located at the Budoni-Agrustos junction.
