She fell from a height of 6 meters while climbing on Monte Bonacoa, an area overlooking Cala Gonone.
The accident occurred shortly after 1:30 PM today. The German tourist hit her head hard in the fall. She was immediately rescued by other hikers who were doing the same activity on the crag. Her fellow hikers called 118 for help, and the Sassari operations center dispatched both an ambulance crew and, given the delicate nature of the accident and the difficult access to the spot where the climber fell, the Areus helicopter.
The rescue team was lowered by winch from Echo Lima 1, which took off from the Olbia base, and once the woman had been stabilized, the aircraft, which in the meantime had stopped on the Dorgali soccer field, completed the recovery.
The climber, who remained alert and conscious throughout, was taken to the Nuoro emergency room where she was diagnosed with a head injury.
