Moments of fear this morning along the provincial road 26 that connects Cala Gonone to Dorgali, where a car carrying a couple of Milanese tourists suddenly caught fire while the two were travelling towards Olbia, on their way to the port for boarding.

The flames, which began for reasons yet to be determined, quickly engulfed the car, completely destroying it and also affecting some of the roadside vegetation. Fortunately, the passengers were able to escape on their own and were not injured.

Team 1A from the Nuoro Fire Department headquarters responded to the scene , extinguishing the fire and securing the area. These operations contained the flames and prevented the fire from spreading further into the surrounding Mediterranean scrub.
