Diesel: €2.398 per liter. Gasoline: €2.168. These are the average prices in Sardinia recorded today, Sunday, September 27, by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy. The price of fueling a car on the island is the third most expensive among the regions. Filling up the tank currently costs more only in Friuli Venezia Giulia (by just two thousandths of a euro, at €2.40 per liter) and Valle d'Aosta (€2.404 per liter).

Starting tomorrow, September 28th, Eni service stations are expected to implement a price cap, capping diesel prices at 2.19 and 1.99 for unleaded fuel. While waiting to see how the measure will be implemented (which could be extended until the end of the year), travelers will have to contend with the unstoppable price hike.

The Mimit figures are merely averages. The price jungle in Sardinia is certified by the applications offered by the ministry itself, which report the (mandatory) reporting of pump prices by station owners.

In the Cagliari area, there's a Tamoil station in Capoterra offering diesel at €2.44 per liter (gasoline at €2.16). Of course, we're talking about self-service. In Assemini, the price goes up to €2.43, also self-service. Full-service is €2.639. And the price at this station was updated yesterday: today it could be even higher.

Again, referring to yesterday, in the area the ministry defines as southern Sardinia, Orroli was the star: diesel was at €2.539 per liter, gasoline at €2.249. In Ogliastra, the title of most expensive service station—in the most up-to-date list—goes to an Esso in Tertenia, tied with a station in Jerzu: diesel was €2.499 per liter. In the Oristano area, Bosa tops the list, where a Q8 is offering €2.459 per liter of diesel. In the Sassari area, the data is less up-to-date. But as of yesterday, the most expensive service station was in Porto Torres: diesel was selling for €2.549 per liter, gasoline for €2.299.
