According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, there is one responsible for the fatal accident that cost the lives of Alessio Massessi, 38, from Villaputzu, and Ambra Utzeri, 32, from Villasimius, which took place on November 29, 2021 on provincial road 19, in Castiadas : magistrate Paolo De Angelis has asked for the indictment for the crime of aggravated double road homicide for the fifty-year-old SD of Castiadas. She was also involved in the crash, but suffered only minor injuries.
The motorist is accused of having "exclusively" caused the tragedy "due to a fault consisting of imprudence, negligence and inexperience".
The dynamics of the terrible accident were reconstructed by the technical consultant of the prosecutor, Francesco Marongiu. Paolo Marcialis, an expert made available by Studio3A-Valore, a company trusted by Massessi's family, also participated in the work as a technical consultant for the offended party .
It emerged that the defendant, who was driving along the Sp 19 driving a Peugeot 206 from Villasimius towards central Castiadas, at the beginning of a long straight road undertook a maneuver to overtake the Fiat Grande Punto driven by Ambra Utzeri, a young mother of three sons, «at a speed of about 118 km/h» writes the Deputy Prosecutor in his deed, against the current limit of 90 km/h. "Once in the opposite lane, however - continues the magistrate - SD became aware of the arrival in the opposite direction of the Opel Vivaro van driven by Massessi": the unaware and innocent 38-year-old, successful tourist entrepreneur, owner of a well-known bathing establishment and well-known DJ, he was proceeding quietly on his way and moreover (instead) respecting the speed limits. At that point, therefore, the driver of the Peugeot, to avoid a head-on collision, "undertook the opposite maneuver to return to the relevant lane" which, however, was occupied by Mrs. Utzeri's Fiat Grande Punto, who also, "to allow her the overtaking, had slowed down and for which that maneuver was completely unexpected and unpredictable», again to quote the request of the deputy prosecutor.
While managing to get back, the prosecutor continues, "she carried out a maneuver such as to find herself close to Utzeri's car that preceded her and, to avoid rear-end collisions, she swerved to the right, continuing her march in the right-hand ditch and in this phase overtook the Grande Punto, sliding past it to the right and hitting it on the right side flank with its left side, with a grazing action and thus giving Mrs. Utzeri's car a direction of travel that moved it towards the lane left, which it then invaded», with the consequent tremendous head-on collision with Massessi's van.
But that's not all because the defendant, after causing Utzeri to lose control of her Punto and having in fact thrown her into the opposite lane, even overtaking her on the right , «she in turn lost control of her Peugeot and also swerved she in an uncontrolled way to the left, in the lane opposite to that of travel, going in turn to collide with the left fronto-lateral part of her car against the rear part of the left side of the Opel Vivaro, coinciding in time with the frontal collision between the same van and the Fiat Grande Punto». In the middle of the thirty-eight year old, therefore, both cars fell on him at the same time.
The preliminary hearing is set for June 27th.
