The police were back at work yesterday in Logheri, in the Oliena countryside , for the technical investigations needed to shed full light on the death of Giancarlo Piga , the 41-year-old firefighter on duty in Olbia , who was crushed by a rubber-tyred dumper (and not, as it initially seemed, by a tractor) while he was driving the machine through a difficult area.

It could have been a subsidence of the ground that betrayed the man: the vehicle overturned and crushed him.

The body , transported to San Francesco in Nuoro, is now under seizure .
