The inauguration of the Cumbidanovu dam, in the Orgosolo area, could arrive in 2026. The tender for the award of the works for the first stage, which concerns the construction of the dam with a project of 91 million euros, had a positive outcome as confirmed by the Consorzio di Bonifica della Sardegna Centrale which also ensures short times for the completion of the procedure and start of work on site.

The company ICM SpA based in Vicenza was awarded the provisional award with a reduction of 0.15%. «As soon as the award becomes effective, the contract will be stipulated and the executive planning and execution service of the first part of the works will be delivered» explains the president of the Consortium Ambrogio Guiso. This is an important step, awaited by the whole territory but which slowed down at the beginning of 2023 due to the failure to submit offers when the notice was published.

«In February 2023 - adds Guiso - this Consortium had launched an open tender procedure for the joint assignment of architectural and engineering technical services relating to the executive design, safety coordination in the design phase and the execution of the intervention. Unfortunately, this tender was deserted, as no offers were received within the deadline established by the announcement. A market survey subsequently revealed that the companies' failure to participate in the tender procedure was to be blamed, in particular, on the current situation of the public procurement market, characterized by excess supply (due, for example, to the numerous projects financed with the PNRR), the volatility of market prices linked to the Ukrainian crisis, the complexity of the works in question, the difficulties of reaching the construction site and, ultimately, the higher operating margins found by the companies in other tender procedures. Therefore, the Consortium, having consulted the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Department of Public Works and the MIT, the Directorate General for Dams, the financing bodies of the intervention as well as with the Extraordinary Commissioner for the construction of the Cumbidanovu dam, the engineer Angelica Catalano, then proceeded , without delay, to update the planning documents of an economic nature".

Yesterday the final session of this new tender procedure to which three economic operators were admitted. The phase following the conclusion of the first phase will be that relating to ancillary works, for 18.5 million euros which are currently being procured.

The total duration of the works is set at 36 months.
