The initiative “A goal for nature” , promoted by the Sardinia Regional Committee in collaboration with the National Amateur League and the Forestas Regional Agency, was presented at the Sala Teatro of the former Pontifical Regional Seminary of Cuglieri . The project involves the donation of 250 plants to the Municipality of Cuglieri, a sign of solidarity and social commitment to contribute to the rebirth of the territory devastated by the fires that hit Montiferru in 2021.
An initiative that combines sport, environment and social responsibility , with the CR Sardegna LND at the forefront.

The president of CR Sardegna and vice-president of LND, Gianni Cadoni, opened the event by thanking the numerous school children present , including the pupils of the nursery, primary and lower secondary schools of Cuglieri, together with the school management and teachers.
"We have gathered around a project branded CR Sardegna LND, made possible thanks to the Forestas Agency, the Municipality and the support of the LND. Sport and social are linked, as our president Abete often emphasizes: football is not just a game, but also a commitment to the community. We must not forget what happened: the film we saw reminds us of the devastation and how, in a few hours, what nature has built over the years can be destroyed".
Cadoni then underlined the closeness of CR Sardegna to the affected communities: «Those days have marked us deeply. From the very beginning we have been close to the community of Cuglieri and the sports clubs of Montiferru. Today we are here to reiterate our concrete support. We did not forget then and we will not do so today. On the occasion of the Benedetto Piras Trophy, the first eco-sustainable tournament in Italy, dedicated to our unforgettable president, we wanted to make a symbolic gesture: plant five trees for every goal scored by the Representatives».

The mayor of Cuglieri, Andrea Loche, expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting the sensitivity of the CR Sardegna: «The Committee is back among us and this fills us with joy. The closeness that it shows us, even after some time, is an important signal. The defense of the territory is an integral part of our life, especially after those tragic events that, for months, made us see the world in black and white». Maurizio Mallocci, Director of Forestas, also underlined the importance of educating the new generations to respect nature, highlighting how this collaboration between different entities goes exactly in that direction.
For his part, Luca De Simoni, Head of the Social Area of the LND, reiterated the role of football as a vehicle of values: «The Social Responsibility Area of the LND was born a few years ago, with the aim of valorising football not only as a sporting competition, but also as a tool for growth and inclusion . Sardinia is often a trailblazer in initiatives of this type and we hope that this project can be replicated in other regions too».
He was echoed by Gian Piero Pinna, councilor of the CR Sardegna and Head of the Social Area of the Committee, who thanked everyone for the sensitivity shown and announced that a part of the new park will be looked after directly by the children of the local team.

After the presentation, the day continued in Piazza Gianfranco Deriu, where, with the contribution of the young people of the Calmedia sports club, two trees were planted . Afterwards, a commemorative plaque was unveiled to celebrate the initiative and its symbolic meaning.
The event was attended by numerous institutional and civil authorities and representatives of the police force, underlining the strong link between sport, community and environmental protection.
